6. History of the writing pad and current use
If you were wondering who invented the notepad, we can give you a brief outline. The writing pad has been around for decades and was in use many years ago when there was still no digital data processing. Ernest Hemingway, for example, wrote his thoughts and experiences in a moleskin notebook. At the time, this notepad was actually made of moleskin, and it is still often used today.
Nowadays these moleskin books are marketed by an Italian manufacturer at inflated prices. It has been two centuries since the invention of the writing pad with the black cover in which the poets and writers of that time immortalized themselves. Oscar Wilde, Bruce Chatwin, Vincent van Gogh and Henri Matisse captured their impressions and drawings in their notebooks and kept them forever.
But even today, when digital word processing is booming, we cannot imagine ourselves without writing pads. Whether at school, in the workplace, at trade fairs or conferences ... Every day, we are overwhelmed by floods of information, constantly unfinished tasks are accumulated, and new appointments are added, which mustn't forget about. These thoughts go round and round in our heads, causing stress. By making notes, we can structure these thoughts and through visualization we can organize ourselves and our valuable time. Certainly, smartphones offer us the opportunity to take notes everywhere, but we can represent structures much more clearly in notepads, and through handwriting, you can retain content better than typing.
Those who have recognized the usefulness of notepads, but do not need them to be as precious (and expensive) as the famous figures of bygone days, can also have their customized writing pad with a logo produced by the printing company of their choice.
